baseball/softball. Click on the links above for details on
each division. A brief overview of the categories of baseball and
softball divisions the Commack North Little League offers are
included below. The ages indicated for each division are shown
next to the descriptions, below. |
|
| Beginners Divisions (Clinic, Teeball & MAP age as of April 30th - Softball age as of December 31st) | |
| The divisions in this category are designed for
beginner ballplayers age 5 and 6, baseball players
age 7 and girl softball players age 7 and 8. Children do not
pitch. Every child bats in an inning until three outs are made
or until every player has batted. Every child plays in the
field. Coaches assist from inside the field of play.
The Clinic Division is new for the 2009
season! Score is not kept and everybody wins. No standings are recorded for these divisions.
Participation trophies are awarded to all registered players at the
end of the season. |
|
| Baseball Divisions (age as of April 30th) | |
| For children interested in learning and participating in the
game of baseball as played on a small version of the field that the
pros play on. Children perform all pitching. Pitchers
are allowed six innings pitched per week. In the 8
year-old division, the coach pitches when the child pitcher is
struggling. All players bat in the line-up. Nine
fielders alternately (or 10 for some divisions) play in the field at
any one time. The winning team is determined by the score of the completed game. Standings are maintained for these divisions. Playoffs are played at the end of the regular season. Award trophies are given to each member of both teams that play in the championship game of their respective divisions. Participation trophies are awarded to all
registered players at the end of the season. |
|
| Softball Divisions (age as of December 31st) | |
| For girls interested in
learning and participating in the game of softball played on a
regulation softball field. Children perform all pitching.
Pitchers are allowed six innings pitched per week. In the 9/10 year-old division, the coach pitches when the child
pitcher is struggling. All players bat in the line-up.
Ten fielders alternately play in the field at any one time.
The winning team is determined by the score of the completed game. Standings are maintained for these divisions. Playoffs are played at the end of the regular season. Award trophies are given to each member of both teams that play in the championship game of their respective divisions. Participation trophies are awarded to all
registered players at the end of the season. |
|
| Juniors and Seniors Divisions (Baseball age as of April 30th - Softball age as of December 31st) | |
| Young adults ages 13 through 16 play in these divisions.

played in the younger divisions with bases set to the same size as
